PenPen
Drawing in Motion
PenPen is a browser-based vector drawing tool where every stroke is born with motion. Designed for illustrators, designers, and animators, it combines precise Bézier editing with parametric tools for creating seamless loops, animated patterns, dynamic shapes, and expressive motion.

Beta-Release of PenPen
2026-06-09 — What if drawing and animation could happen at the same time? Meet PenPen, a browser-based vector drawing tool where every stroke is born with motion.
Instead of creating a static image and animating it later, every line in PenPen can move from the moment it is drawn. Strokes can wiggle, pulse, grow, appear as drawn, react to physics, or behave like hair in the wind. Motion becomes a brush property, as natural as choosing a color or stroke weight.
Designed to feel as direct and playful as sketching, PenPen replaces timelines and keyframes with an intuitive, hands-on workflow. Live recording captures every movement, recording position, scale, and rotation as they happen. A puppet tool allows drawings to bend and move organically, while physics such as gravity, bounce, and collisions introduce unexpected behavior and happy accidents. The idea of the seamless loop runs throughout the software, turning drawings into endlessly repeating moments.
Built on vector graphics, the same drawing can become a print-ready PDF, a scalable SVG, or an animated MP4. PenPen runs directly in the browser, works offline, and supports touch and pencil input on tablets. Artists can import their own assets, sync projects across devices through the cloud, and export work as MP4, PNG sequences, SVG, or PDF.
The project emerged from a practical observation: designers and illustrators are increasingly expected to deliver both static and animated work. PenPen was built to create both from the same drawing.
PenPen is free to start at penpen.ch and includes one month of Pro access during the beta phase.
